For the ninth edition of the Festival international de percussions de Longueuil (international festival of percussions of Longueuil), colors of Spain will fill the Saint-Charles Street in the Vieux Longueuil.
As in many cultures, percussions have been part of the History of Spain through the sounds of traditional instruments like cajón, pandereita, palmas and of course through the flamenco music.
The Festival International de Percussions de Longueuil presents 4 stages :
-Loto-Québec stage: professional and international stage which receives international artists.
-Desjardins de la Relève stage: stage dedicated to the emerging artists, proposes music and dance contest and young professional shows in the evenings.
-Journal de Montréal des Découvertes stage: stage opened to all artists and artistic schools of Quebec
-Des Diversités stage: stage dedicated to percussions marathon and to other artistic fields linked with the percussions
Moreover, Saint Charles’ street will be animated by street performers and handicraft kiosques. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate to music and dance workshops and drum master classes.
The days of Saturday and Sunday will be dedicated to the family with lots of activities. At last, the highlight of the festival will take place with the Sunday parade, full of percussive music, dance and colors.
Everybody’s welcome from the 15th to the 18th of July 2010, it’s free!
