Rive-Sud

A Region Rich in History

Across the St. Lawrence River from Montréal is the Rive-Sud area. Well known for its role as a suburb where numerous Montréal workers live, this area stretches along the St. Lawrence River and conceals numerous historic sites as well as a rich religious heritage. Come discover the many charming villages, like Verchères, which is part of the Most beautiful Villages of Quebec.

Since the Rive-Sud has such a rich historic past, it is home to an aboriginal reservation: Kahnawake. You can visit this reservation to learn more about the customs and history of this First Nation. The Rive-Sud is also an ideal place to go biking along the numerous cycling paths, or hiking, especially on the Boucherville islands, which is a real paradise. Come discover a page of Quebec’s history in the Rive-Sud area.
