Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot

A « Rest-City »

The municipality of Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot was officially created in 1977, but as early as 1855, a parish was already founded under the same name. Its name comes from the mother of David Shaw Ramzay, owner of the seigniory Ramzay when the parish was created, and from sir Charled Bagot, governor of the United Province of Canada from 1841 to 1843.

In the 1970s, a highway was built to link Québec City and Montréal, and part of this highway passes by the municipality of Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot. This is why thousands of trucks and cars stop here everyday during their journey to one of the two largest cities of the province.
